Opinion: Why I pre-ordered an Xbox One

On June 11, I woke up just before lunch, having done a 21-hour shift covering this year's E3 press conferences. I felt strange, almost jet-lagged but without having left the country.

Video: Yu Suzuki talks Shenmue... with David Cage

We're not completely sure what's going on here but it seems at some point during E3 David Cage, creator of Heavy Rain and the upcoming Beyond: Two Souls, and Ryan Payton, formerly of Kojima Productions and 343 Industries, sat down for a chat.

    Playing the Past: Quake

My first gaming experience was on a computer, but it wasn't until 1996 that our household received a machine of its own. Like most households, it was purchased to help with "schoolwork", and like most school students, I knew exactly what that meant: games. For the longest time the education rule limited me to what Windows 95 slipped under the radar - namely Solitaire and Minesweeper. But then I saw Quake. And everything changed.

How to use Nintendo's handy 3DS image sharing site

If there's one thing that annoys us about Animal Crossing: New Leaf, it's having to quit the game, take the SD card out of our 3DS and stick it in a PC every time we want to share a screenshot we've taken. Thankfully, Nintendo has made the photo sharing process much easier across a select number of 3DS games.

Xbox One games: The full list

A week ago the next-gen gaming line up was a mixture of rumours, speculation and educated guesses. With little more than Drive Club, Killzone: Shadow Fall and a few indie games, we entered E3 thirsting for more, and it definitely delivered.

Playing the Past: Phantasy Star IV

It started as a curious rent. A game I hired from the local video shop, back when you could hire games and back when my home town had a local video shop. I don't know what made me steer away from my usual diet of platformers - maybe that diet had become a binge. But out of the blue, I picked up a role-playing game called Phantasy Star IV and, twenty years later, I still can't get enough.
