Microsoft plans to have 300 Xbox One Gamerpics ready for the console's launch later this year.

Asked by an IGN reader if players will be able to import their own JPEG's, etc. for use as Gamerpics, Xbox Live general manager Marc Whitten said:

"We are focused on building out a beautiful collection of 1080p gamerpics for our users on Xbox One. You'll also be able to create full-body poses of your Avatar to use as a gamerpic. You'll see us do much more here in the future. At launch, we expect to have 300 gamerpics to choose from."

Whitten provided the three examples above. He was also asked if players will be able to assign friends with a nickname which appears instead of their Gamertag. He responded:

"Good idea! We'll look at that idea in the future. At launch, one of the things we will provide is the ability to add a friend to a favourites list, so you can keep up with both the broader set of people on your list and the people you play with most."

Microsoft has confirmed a Xbox One release date of November 22, 2013 in 13 markets. The Xbox One price has been set at £430 / €500 / $500.

The platform holder has also announced 23 Xbox One launch games including Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, Forza Motorsport 5 and Killer Instinct.
