Battlestar Galactica producer writing new game for God of War studio

Michael Angeli teases Sony Santa Monica's next big thing

Battlestar Galactica co-executive producer Michael Angeli is working with Sony Santa Monica on a new unannounced project.

Polygon reports Angeli revealed the information during a Battlestar Galactica panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where he confirmed the title was not a new entry in the God of War series.

According to Angeli, he has been writing the game for two years and the studio's 150 staff members transitioned to working on the title following the completion of God of War: Ascension for PS3.

Although he didn't provide any concrete details on the game, Angeli said his work on Battlestar Galactica contributed to him landing the gig, suggesting the title may be science-fiction based.

God of War fans decrypted a hidden message found in Ascension earlier this year. The solution led to the image below, along with the message "When the Earth stops, the journey begins..."

In April 2012, a Sony Santa Monica job listing suggested the studio had begun working on an unannounced new IP. The studio was seeking a senior combat designer with experience designing or developing first and/or third person shooters and vehicular combat.

The studio was also recently on the lookout for a level designer and senior combat designer with experience working on open world games, as well as vehicular combat and third and first person shooters.

Sony Santa Monica has yet to reveal any PS4 projects.
