Acclaimed iOS games available for free on App Store

Infinity Blade 2, Tiny Wings, Where's My Water and Sword & Sworcery all offered for free

A wave of best-in-class iPhone and iPad games are emerging on the App Store as free titles to download.

Award winning apps such as Andreas Illiger's Tiny Wings and Epic Games' Infinity Blade 2 are offered gratis for both iPhone and iPad. Though Apple has not communicated why these games are switching to free, the promotion is believed to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the App Store.


Apple's revolutionary app and games platform went live on July 10, 2008, and since then has been populated by more than 900,000 applications. Since May, the App Store has serviced more than 50 billion downloads.

More free games are being discovered as the hours pass, but at the time of going to press the list of free games includes (with App Store links included)

A range of non-gaming apps are also being re-released for free, including the highly regarded Traktor DJ app - a professional-level DJing and editing suite that normally costs $20.
