Deep Silver releases 'offensive' Dead Island torso edition

Controversial bundle on sale despite apology

Deep Silver has proceeded to release the Dead Island: Riptide Zombie Bait Edition, after "deeply" apologising for the 'offensive' game bundle earlier this year.

The £89.99 GBP special edition includes a limbless female torso donning a bikini, and was widely criticised following its announcement in January.

On the same day as its controversial unveiling the publisher issued a swift apology in response to the criticism, telling fans that "we sincerely regret this choice" and promising that "we are committed to making sure this will never happen again."

Now various reports indicate that despite distancing itself from the product, the Zombie Bait Edition has made its way into UK and Australian shops.

Dead Island: Riptide officially goes on sale in the UK this Friday, April 26.

Deep Silver UK was unavailable for contact at the time of publish, though a company representative confirmed to Cnet Australia that "an extremely limited quantity of the Zombie Bait edition has been made available to some retailers for those customers who wish to purchase it."
