Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank movies announced

UPDATE: Ratchet hitting cinemas in 2015; Heavenly Sword straight-to-video

A Ratchet & Clank movie is headed to the big screen in 2015.


Blockade Entertainment and animation studio Rainmaker Entertainment are producing the PlayStation franchise's first cinematic release, while series creator Insomniac Games will also play a role in its development.

James Stevenson, community lead at Insomniac Games, said on the PS Blog: "Insomniac is honoured to play a hands-on role with the film's production, screenplay, character development, and animation consulting.

"Furthermore, our own Ratchet & Clank writer, T.J. Fixman, who has written all of the recent Ratchet & Clank games, is writing the script for the film as well."

UPDATE: In addition to Ratchet & Clank, Blockade is also producing a CG-animated film based on Ninja Theory brawler Heavenly Sword, reports Variety.

Unlike Ratchet the Heavenly Sword movie will be be distributed direct-to-home video. No other details were released.
