New Bethesda game is Shinji Mikami's The Evil Within, teaser released

Coming to current and next-gen consoles, as well as PC, in 2014

Bethesda has officially revealed The Evil Within, the first game from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami's Tango Gameworks studio.


Speaking to IGN, Mikami said the company is "committed to creating an exciting new franchise" and "providing fans the perfect blend of horror and action".

According to Evil Within gameplay details which appeared on Bethesda's Japanese website, the game is being developed using id Tech 5 and will featuring a 'distorting world'.

The story is centered around Detective Sebastian and his partner, who attend the scene of a mass murder and find a powerful, mysterious force lying in wait.

The Evil Within will be released in 2014 for Xbox 360, PS3, PC and next-gen consoles. More details on the title are expected on April 22.

The Evil Within was first teased in 2012 as Zwei. According to Mikami, the game will be "a true survival horror" in which the player "confronts and overcomes fear".

"I've found my focus and once again I'm striving for pure survival horror," he said at the time. "I am being very hands-on in the development of this game to ensure that the quality is there. Rest assured."

Mikami also previously said this project will be his last as game director.
