Ouya consoles began shipping to its Kickstarter backers in late March, but there are still several major updates in the works for the system, according to Ouya CEO Julie Uhrman.
"Our software is constantly evolving. Right now, the team is focused on optimizing the performance of our software (this means responsiveness). In addition, we have a host of features we're working on for the June launch," said Uhrman.
Among the planned updates is support for external storage for games, a "simpler" game install process, controller support for video players and more payment options for the console's digital store.
Final retail units will be available for purchase from June 4.
Uhrman has said that new versions of the console will release annually, mirroring the iterative smartphone model.
