Fuse release date confirmed for May

Delayed Insomniac shooter out in time for summer

Publisher EA has confirmed a Fuse release date of May 28 in North America and May 31 in Europe.

Fuse is Insomniac Games' four-player co-op action shooter in which players take control of four elite covert agents, "each with their own Xenotech weapon and set of unique skills used to fight to protect mankind from a deadly alien energy source known as Fuse".

Formerly a Sony-exclusive studio with its PS3 FPS series Resistance, Fuse will be Insomniac's first multi-platform release, coming to both PS3 and Xbox 360.

Players who pre-order Fuse from select retailers will be able to unlock special armor and weapon customization for each of the game's four elite agents.

The pre-order bonuses include:

  • Four Hyperion Prototype Agent Armor Skins - Upgrade your agents' look with four special, state-of-the-art armor skins discovered inside the top-secret Hyperion Base
  • Four Hyperion Prototype Weapon Skins - Customize your Fuse weapons with four skins based on each of the original prototypes developed inside Hyperion Base
  • Quickdraw Team Perk - Increase your damage with this team perk adding powerful Fuse elements to all one-handed weapons for all four characters in your squad

The game was previously expected for launch in March. EA said the delay was to allow for extra development time.

The third-person shooter was initially conceived as Overstrike, before the title was re-revealed as Fuse earlier last year. The re-brand saw Overstrike's cartoon-flavoured art direction stripped away in favour of a grittier aesthetic.
