Sega has announced Egypt as the eighth playable faction in Rome 2: Total War, adding that it's likely to reveal more going forward.

Joining the Roman, Carthage, Macedon, Iceni, Arverni, Suebi and Parthia factions previously revealed, Egypt is profiled on the Total War Wiki.

Here's a description: "Successors to the legacy of Alexander The Great, the rulers of Ptolemaic Egypt bring Hellenistic fighting prowess to north Africa, with serried ranks of fearsome pikemen, devastating scythed war-chariots and terrifying war-elephants. And yet, they are also a remarkably progressive people, skilled in the arts of statecraft and diplomacy."

The Rome 2: Total War release date has reportedly been set for October 2013, although Sega's officially announced launch window for the game is simply late next year.
