Carmageddon: Reincarnation - the series reboot which was successfully Kickstarted for PC last year - will also be coming to next-gen consoles.
That's according to developer Stainless Games, which has just completed a $3.5 million investment round in addition to the $625,000 it raised on Kickstarter.
The studio specifies in the announcement that the $3.5 million is a "funding round for the development of the next iteration of Carmageddon: Reincarnation on the next gen platforms".
Stainless Games publishing director Jason Garber later confirmed with Eurogamer that the studio intends to bring the title to next-gen consoles, though it has yet to secure dev kits for the PS4.
Garber also suggests that despite Carmageddon's modest budget compared to larger triple-A console titles, the PS4's new hardware will make multi-platform development easier than it has been in the past. "That's one of the things about it that makes us more confident about the limitation of the budget," he said.
Carmageddon: Reincarnation was originally confirmed for PC, Mac and Linux. With next-gen console editions added to the project, Garber predicts the studio will show the game in Autumn.
