Final Fantasy Versus XIII reportedly renamed FFXV, is PS4 exclusive

Sony rumoured to be co-developing the game with Square Enix

Final Fantasy Versus XIII has reportedly been renamed Final Fantasy XV and will release as a PS4 exclusive.

The rumour comes from VGLeaks, one of the more reliable sources of next-gen information in the build up to Sony's PS4 reveal last month.

According to the site, Square decided to halt FF Versus XIII PS3 development two years ago, when it switched the game to a PS4 exclusive and Sony came on board as a co-developer, "helping with assets among other tasks".

It was rumoured last year that FF Versus XIII had been cancelled and that the development team had moved on to work on the unannounced Final Fantasy XV, although Square Enix president Yoichi Wada moved to deny the rumours by claiming that the confirmed project hadn't been abandoned.

FF Versus XIII was first announced in May 2006 alongside Final Fantasy XIII as part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series and the "next generation" of the long-running franchise.
