Disney Infinity will no longer release in June, with Disney opting for an August window following retailer advice.
Infinity has been re-scheduled to August 18 in North America and August 20 in Europe, and according to Disney Interactive co-president John Pleasants, the move is at the request of retail following a strong public reaction.
"The date became an issue in terms of them [retailers] asking, 'is there a better opportunity here?'", Pleasants told the New York Times.
When asked about Infinity's rescheduling in relation to Skylanders' Autumn release date, Pleasants said "we think it's good to be first and really lean into the most important selling season of the year."
Pleasants also noted that the extra two months will allow Disney to "add bells and whistles and make sure it really sings and pops."
Disney described Infinity as a "new interactive gaming platform" upon its unveiling in January. The title is poised to take on Activision's popular Skylanders franchise, with that publisher claiming to be "flattered that one of the leading family entertainment companies is joining our toys to life category."
