PS4 supports 4K, but not for games

PlayStation 4 will be built to support 4K resolution output for video but not games, an executive at the company has said.

Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida told Joystiq that future PlayStation 4 games will not be available to view in the super-hi-res 4K resolution.

It had been rumoured for several months that Sony - which manufactures a range of 4K televisions - would use PS4 game content as a means to stimulate interest in 4K.

Sony revealed the PlayStation 4 at a New York press conference on Wednesday.
