Dead Space 3 has debuted at No.1 on the UK all formats chart.
While the game recorded the biggest launch of the year to date, Chart-Track said first week sales were down 26.6 per cent on those of Dead Space 2, which also debuted atop the chart just over two years ago.
The retail monitor said the Xbox 360 version of Dead Space 3 accounted for 65 per cent of sales, the PS3 one for 31 per cent and the PC edition for four per cent, while Dead Space 2 was split 56 per cent on Xbox 360, 40 per cent PS3 and four per cent on PC.
In our Dead Space 3 review we described EA's threequel as a "technically impressive all-out action blaster", but added that it "betrays its roots and suffers for it".
Fellow EA game FIFA 13 was a chart non-mover at No.2, ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Far Cry 3 and Hitman HD Trilogy.
Elsewhere, boosted by the release of a 3DS version, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed jumped eight places to No.10.
