Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate multiplayer will be region-locked

Confirmed by Capcom

Capcom has confirmed that the multiplayer component of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be region-locked.

Speaking to Gamereactor, Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto revealed the situation. Later, a spokesperson for Capcom USA confirmed the news on the official Monster Hunter forums.

The post, made by Capcom USA Associate Online and Community Specialist Yuri L. Araujo, expressed disappointment with the situation. "I'm not thrilled with the servers being split either," Araujo admitted, promised that he'd pass the poor feedback on.

No reason has been provided for the region-lock, though it's likely to grate with Western gamers keen to partake in the considerably busier and more competitive Japanese Monster Hunter scene.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will release for Wii U and 3DS in Europe on March 22, and North America on March 19.
