Blizzard opens teaser site for 'Project Blackstone'

Mysterious site seemingly linked to upcoming StarCraft 2 expansion

Blizzard has launched a teaser site for something called 'Project Blackstone'.

PCGamesN managed to gain access to the password protected site - which has a government agency motif - and found an e-mail exchange between StarCraft character Helek Branamoor and Blackstone research staff member Talen Ayers.

The subjects of the discussion were "surprising similarities between the zerg larva's pluripotent cellular structures and our own embryonic stem cells" and a cancelled barbecue. The site can be accessed with the password "Y7_$0>0k_3<$m".

The website is believed to be the first phase in the StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm marketing campaign. Blizzard has confirmed a StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm release date of March 12, 2013. It has also released the opening cinematic for the expansion.

In December 2012, documents supposedly detailing Blizzard's business plan right through to 2015 were leaked. They listed a number of expansions for World of Warcraft and suggested that the studio's confirmed "next gen MMO project" Titan would appear in some form in 2013.
