Take-Two has confirmed during its third quarter financial call that its XCOM shooter is still in production.
Developed by 2K Marin, the title is now expected to release in Take-Two's 2014 fiscal year, which begins on April 1 and ends on March 31, 2014.
The game was initially announced in April 2010 and scheduled for a March 2012 release. That release window was ruled out at around the same time as XCOM: Enemy Unknown was revealed.
The first person shooter has been rumoured to have shifted to a squad-based, third person shooter format.
An alleged 2K marketing survey also suggested the title may be planned for consoles only and possibly released as a $30 digital title as opposed to a full price retail one.
Earlier today Take-Two confirmed the game is still in production. "2K Marin continues to make progress on XCOM," the publisher stated.
