Dead Space 3 producer hints at 'disturbing' new story DLC

And discusses four unlockable modes in the survival horror

Dead Space 3 executive producer Steve Papoutsis has hinted that a downloadable expansion that adds a "disturbing" new story to the game is in development.

Holding back on specifics, Papoutsis only revealed that the content is "coming in a few weeks".

"The team is hard at work on a top secret additional story that will be coming in a few weeks," teased Papoutsis.

"We're not saying much, yet - but think 'disturbing' to get your imaginations going," he added.

Papoutsis also revealed details of four unlockable gameplay modes, which are on-disc and unlocked after the main campaign is completed.

The 'Game+' mode lets players start the game from the beginning whilst retaining all upgrades and weapons from the first play-through.

A Classic Mode is a single-player-only mode, with "classic aiming" and no crafting, which means all weapons have to be built from blueprints - like with the original Dead Space.

In Pure Survival mode, enemies only drop resources, and there's no ammo, health or weapon parts to be found, which will make resource management and choosing what to craft at each bench crucial.

Hardcore mode simply gives you a single life for the entire campaign.

Dead Space 3 will hit shelves on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on February 5 in North America. February 7 in Australia, and February 8 in Europe.
