Nintendo has officially revealed the new multiplayer mode to feature Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon on 3DS.
'Hunter Mode' is a four-player option playable locally or online. Each player controls a different coloured version of Luigi as they team up to take on ghosts in the ScareScraper (a haunted skyscraper).
Players choose how many floors they want to tackle, ranging from five, 10 or 25, and work their way from floor to floor clearing out ghosts before taking on the boss waiting at the top of the tower. And this must be done in a hurry - the tower must be completed before the countdown timer reaches zero, explains Nintendo.
Hunting down the ghosts will apparently require "effective teamwork" to clear each floor, and the team will earn "bonuses and upgrades" depending on their performance.
Hunter mode will let you tweak the difficulty level, and downed players can be revived by those still alive - similarly to the Luigi's Mansion mini-game in Nintendo Land, we assume.
It's unclear if Hunter Mode will support single-cart multiplayer or not - Nintendo only says, "Additional systems and games may be required for multiplayer modes and are sold separately", which reads more like a general disclaimer than specific info related to LM:DM.
The game is out in March in UK, and more specifically hits US on March 24.
