MGS: Ground Zeroes will feature base building and smartphone support

Peace Walker feature being incorporated into new entry

The base building gameplay introduced in Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will make its return in Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, Hideo Kojima has revealed.

Snake has access to a home base which is accessed using a helicopter. Players can develop, expand and fortify the structure and use it to develop tools for use in the battlefield.

"The concept of developing weapons at your base is a very cool idea, and something that could be popular. It's something we've been thinking of," Kojima said at the Eurogamer Expo.

The Metal Gear mastermind also revealed the Ground Zeroes gameplay experience will extend beyond game consoles to include smartphones.

"Furthermore, nowadays there are various ways to access the game world - you're not just playing in your living room on your games console.

"You may also access through your cell phone and other devices and still access that same game. I think in that respect that motherbase system lends itself very well to that system, and that's something we're planning on for Ground Zeroes."

Following its announcement, Konami released a Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes gameplay demo.
