YouTube PS3 app out in US today

The world of faceplants, lol cats and inappropriate comments brought to PS3

Sony has confirmed that the YouTube app for PS3 will be released in US today.

Presumably set to go live alongside the usual weekly US PS Store update today, the YouTube app will let you watch Blastoise Kid go mental from the comfort of your sofa (unless your PS3's in the toilet, or something).

YouTube has previously been viewable on PS3 via the browser, but Sony says the app will provide new features such as using your phone as a remote.

"With a quick pairing process, you can control YouTube on PS3 with a smartphone. Find a video on your phone and with a button it'll play on the big screen. While the video is playing you can control it from the phone, or keep browsing YouTube for the next one," explains Sony.

The new app will be available in the PlayStation Store under 'My Channels'.
