Black Ops 2 multiplayer trailer - Dissected

We uncover all the information in Treyarch's video announcement...

Last night saw Treyarch release the first official multiplayer footage for Black Ops 2, and this hotly anticipated reveal certainly didn't disappoint. There's a wealth of information tucked away in the two-minute clip, but in case you didn't spot it all we've picked out the most important details and explain what they mean for the upcoming Call of Duty instalment.

The first thing we see is a floating display showing class name, equipment and perk selections. It looks like there are three slots for primary weapon attachments, two slots for secondary weapon attachments, three perks and two equipment slots. Is this just appearing as a reminder to the player of what items they selected, or does it potentially link into an eSports mode so that spectators know what the player they are viewing has in their arsenal?

In the bottom right of the screen the display shows all three chosen killstreaks, and that the currently selected weapon has been set to Burst. Later in the trailer Auto and Semi-auto appears here, indicating that there will be different fire modes available.

Next we see a new type of stun grenade, with a screw-like bore attached so it sticks into the ground - making it easier to land in a specific area then a frag grenade that could roll away. This lands near an enemy and emits an electric blast that stuns them for a couple of seconds, long enough for our player to take them out.

Awards make many appearances, with icons popping up throughout the trailer. In this case the player has just taken Revenge on someone who killed them previously.

Here we see an x-ray scope attachment is being used to look through the containers ahead and spot enemies. This scope appears to be sending out pulses and detected enemies fade from view over time, so it will not allow constant x-ray vision.
