A Metal Gear Solid 5 logo supposedly leaked yesterday was a hoax, according to the series' director Hideo Kojima.
Yesterday it was suspected that Kojima was holding closed-doors demonstrations of the new game at the San Diego Comic-Con event, with one person apparently taking snaps of the game's logo.
But addressing the issue on his own personal Twitter account, Kojima said the logo "is completely fake".
He added: "I apologise to those who were looking forward to it."
Rumours of Metal Gear Solid 5's development have circulated for a number of months, though Konami has nothing official to say about the project.
Earlier this year, Kojima himself told a journalist that the game was in development.
