Bethesda officially announces Resident Evil creator's Zwei

Shinji Mikami says he's found his focus and is "striving for pure survival horror"

Following yesterday's revelation that Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami is working on a new survival horror title codenamed 'Zwei', Bethesda has officially confirmed the game.

According to Mikami, the game will be "a true survival horror" in which the player "confronts and overcomes fear".

"I've found my focus and once again I'm striving for pure survival horror," he said. "I am being very hands-on in the development of this game to ensure that the quality is there. Rest assured."

The game will be developed at Tango Gameworks, Mikami's post-Platinum Games studio, which was snapped up by Bethesda's parent company ZeniMax Media in 2010.

Mikami has said this project will be his last as game director, so we've got our fingers crossed for something special.
