Ninja Gaiden 3 has finally been let loose on the world, but not everyone's happy it's here. As you'll see in our Ninja Gaiden 3 review round-up, opinion of the game has been mixed, with scores ranging from 8/10 to 3/10.

In our Ninja Gaiden 3 review we believed Ninja Gaiden 3 aspired "to be all things to all people, to offer accessibility beyond its hardcore roots", but concluded that the outcome was a bit hit or miss.

We've identified our issues with the latest entry in the acclaimed hack 'n' slash series and mused over our wishes for the next iteration. Here's what we want to see...

In Team Ninja's quest to appeal to a larger audience and craft a more accessible experience Ninja Gaiden 3 lost the one thing the series was famed for: its notorious, controller-demolishing difficulty.

All too often now we're seeing many franchises forget their roots in the pursuit of courting the mass market with accessibility, and in the case of Ninja Gaiden 3 it seems to have sacrificed what made it special in the process.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to appeal to more players and giving more of them an opportunity to finish the game, but maybe Team Ninja should have just created a new beginner difficulty setting for the newcomers (read: weak noobs). That way long-time hack and slashers could still have a bastard-hard mode and everyone's happy. Let's hope they think the same for the next game.
